Trial and error

Our life is a process of trial and error, where we find ways to approach life with ease despite the challenges we face. Sometimes, we become so entangled in desperation to finish tasks faster and move through life more quickly. We may think we already know how to do things when in reality, we probably don’t. The beauty of this process is that it helps us develop a guideline and foundation of who we are, and teaches us the best ways to handle situations that work best for us. Occasionally, this means going back and unintentionally repeating old patterns so we can reassess and try new approaches to achieve different outcomes. The hardships we encounter show us if we are willing to stay resilient and keep moving forward. Sometimes, it requires taking steps we never believed we would, and other times, facing situations we never imagined experiencing.
I believe this process of discovering who we are leads us to the valuable freedom of taking control of our lives. There are moments when we attempt to live according to others’ expectations and pressure ourselves to meet them, even if they don’t align with who we are. Still, we try this route, hoping it will help us move forward. However, eventually, we become overwhelmed by living up to others’ expectations and begin questioning what is right for us. This is when we start to take accountability for our actions and regain control of our lives.
I'm sharing all of this, but I recognize that it’s easier said than done, and it remains a work in progress. I like to think of it as a game of Sudoku, where we have a set of rules guiding us. It’s up to us to choose the approach that works best, sometimes testing different options to see if we can fill a row or a box without repeating the same number. When we encounter repeated numbers, we need to go back and rethink how to change and shift things to get a different outcome. Just like life, this game involves trial and error, which requires patience. As we improve, things begin to flow more naturally. But there will also be times of frustration, when we feel confident we can navigate another game easily, only to be met with setbacks and confusion about why things are taking longer than before. At those moments, we must pause, reflect, and return to the task to fill in the gaps and complete the picture. This cycle is endless, but with time, we learn the virtue of patience and how to handle the process better.
